Over a Century of Dolls, Toys, and Games at Christmastime

Bundle up the whole family and bring them to the Amanas during the holiday season to make new memories by visiting the Amana Heritage Museum’s special exhibit! With contributions from a dozen local families, the Amana Heritage Museum’s Special Exhibit to will put you into the holiday mood by showcasing hundreds of unique toys, games, and dolls from every era.
This special exhibit was created for visitors to enjoy during the holiday season. The museum auditorium will be transformed into a child and grown up’s dream with 150 collectible dolls from 1890 to today plus lots of other fun toys and games. Antique toys include communal-era made buck sleds, a handmade roller horse, 1880s German-built Vulkan train set and a Lionel train set.
The exhibit highlights collectible dolls from every era. Enjoy several 1890 dolls owned by young Amana girls many years ago. Madame Alexander dolls from the 1960s to the 1980s will delight you in fun vignettes. A number of early Barbies and a vintage Shirley Temple doll will bring back wonderful memories. G.I. Joe, C3PO, Yoda, Princess Leia and Cabbage Patch Dolls will be on hand. Modern collectible dolls include lots of American Girls with accessories, Gone with the Wind Barbies, and Bitty Babies.

December 1-3 (Prelude to Christmas Weekend) Hours
Fri noon-7pm. Program: Doll Collecting & Care 3pm and 5pm
Saturday 10-7pm. Program: Doll Collecting & Care 1pm and 4pm. Also kids crafts and snacks!
